Step one begins with the layering of wool roving. I lay out the roving layers in different directions building up colors and texture. The topmost layer gets more detail. After all of the layers are added it is wet down and manipulated until the felting process is done. This took about 3 hours of soaking and rolling in opposing directions. The second to the last photo is a detail of the finished piece with machine and embroidery stitching applied. The last photo is of me stitching into it showing the scale of the piece.
